I also have personal experience with type 1 diabetes, and I work with clients navigating the disease and co-occurring mental health concerns. My goal as a therapist is to help you identify and utilize your strengths while also challenging you to try new approaches that can lead to different experiences. I believe in giving you a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space to explore what's really going on in your life. That starts with helping you develop insight around your struggles and patterns. We then work together to identify and practice ways to move forward and make real and meaningful changes towards the life you want to lead. Clients of all ages may be going through challenges or life transitions that show up as anxiety or depression or just feeling stuck. I also work with individuals and couples who are stuck in relationship patterns that no longer work for them. I’m knowledgeable about a variety of techniques such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapy, but I use a variety of approaches to helping my clients. As you might expect from my location in the heart of Atlanta, my clients are a diverse group of men and women. I strive to be an anti-racist therapist responsive to the needs of Black clients and other people of color. As a gay man I strongly support empowerment of women. LGBTQ concerns are a special focus of mine; you have the right to expect your therapist to be comfortable and knowledgeable about your concerns. I’ve been in private practice in Atlanta for more than 30 years. I work out of comfortable and tranquil home office in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood. I specialize in helping women overcome anxiety and depression so that they can enjoy life's milestones such as graduating college, first career job, marriage, and having children. When anxious or depressed, these milestones are met with extreme fear or feelings of just "meh". You wonder when things got this way, as you didn't always feel hopeless or have an extreme fear of being judged. Your family and friends have noticed this change as you do not hang out with them as much and seem to have lost your joy. You don't have to feel this way forever. Imagine being relaxed while in public, wanting to hang out with loved ones, and being excited about your future. I work with women in their 20's and 30's that are entering a new phase of their life (i.e. college, career, relationship) and experience anxiety and depression.

I provide specialized therapy for adolescents and adults, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as comprehensive couples counseling, including premarital therapy. I work with folks dealing with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, grief, and relationship issues. For children ages 6 and up, I also provide play therapy and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), tailoring treatment to each child’s developmental needs. I help women redefine and create their own definition of “having it all” and set and achieve realistic goals. Too often we allow society to dictate our careers, marriage, and family. There is pressure to be the ideal candidate for employers and the ideal mate for a spouse. We try so hard to be an idealistic version of ourselves, yet somehow, we are left feeling dissatisfied or as if something is missing. We then point out and focus on every void in our lives (i.e. romantic relationship, dream job, great friends, etc.) and overlook what is good in our lives. I help women build confidence to create their own set of standards for their lives without guilt and shame. We work to dispel beliefs about who you should be and create a narrative of acceptance for who you are presently and who you are becoming.

Most of us expend a huge amount of effort to make it look like our life is perfect; especially on social media. Some of us even relate to the dreaded Imposter Syndrome. While our accomplishments may be lengthy, our relationships and fulfillment are lacking. We understand, and our approach reflects just that.
