Life has many challenges. It's how you grow from your past that defines who you are in life. You may feel alone, misunderstood, and unfulfilled with your life or personal relationships. Perhaps you're having intense negative emotions. People typically enter therapy when they are in distress, although it's usually the long-term and underlying struggles that concern them the most. Initially, we will work quickly to address your immediate pain and provide relief. As therapy progresses, our focus may shift so you develop more positive and enriching relationships with yourself and others. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe and compassionate environment where you can recognize your potential and live a meaningful life. I use evidenced-based therapy that focuses on the dynamics that impact your daily experience. We look for the behaviors, attitudes, and patterns that protected you in the past but no longer serve a purpose.
Therapy is a collaborative process, and I'm committed to walking alongside you every step of the way as you embark on this journey of self-exploration and personal growth. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. I'm here to offer culturally responsive guidance, insight, and practical strategies to help you navigate through these difficult times.
I’m am a licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Massachusetts, I received my Masters from Cambridge College and have been practicing for 4 years. I help adults struggling with anxiety, depression and trauma. When clients meet with me they can expect to be in a safe environment where they can share their thoughts and feelings in a non judgmental space. In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions. I will go over confidentiality, consents and privacy policy. I will gather some information through a bio-psycho social assessment about you and then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us. Having worked with professionals for the past 4+ years, I've developed and tried-and-true playbook for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.

Hi! My name is Rachel Hammond, LPC, LMHC, ATR. I am a licensed counselor and registered art therapist currently serving women virtually in Massachusetts and Louisiana. The journey looks different for everyone and, with that in mind, I tailor my work to include a variety of modalities. I integrate mindfulness practice, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) approaches into sessions, incorporating the whole self as a means to heal. Progress isn’t always linear; however, I do believe we all inherently have within us the ability to heal and grow. I take great care in helping women overcome anxiety and self-doubt, serving as a guide for my clients to dig deeper and explore strategies to lead aligned, fulfilling lives.
Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with young adults facing issues related to anxiety, depression, relationships, family, identity and stress. Right now, I offer telehealth therapy for folks in Maine and Massachusetts. I help my clients by creating a collaborative and affirming space to gain skills, process experiences, and grow. It has always been my take on life that we must find joy and satisfaction in what we do and who we are. I have been working as a mental health professional since 2006 and I find joy in the work that I do each and every day. I prioritize creating a healthy balance between the work that I love, my self-care, and time with my family. I value the opportunity I have to help people find their way and find balance in their lives, whether this is through closure with the past or building new skills to cope with current life challenges. I knew when I was a teenager that this is the work that I wanted to do. I have always felt drawn towards helping people. I received my undergraduate degree from Flagler College in Florida and earned my Graduate degree from Assumption College here in MA. Right out of school, I worked for South Bay Mental Health doing in-home therapy. Once I became licensed I moved into an office setting and I worked at Arbour Counseling for about 8 years. After which I started graduating into private practice. A few colleagues and I came together to create Grove Counseling Services in Worcester, MA. Until COVID-19 presented, we were thriving. I now work out of Millbury, MA and continue to do what I love.
You’ve been wondering why you do & feel the things you do—why specific behaviors keep repeating, why you feel stuck, no matter how much you try to change. You’ve done the self-help books, the podcasts, maybe a few short-term therapy stints, but you still find yourself repeating the same patterns. I help curious, motivated people ready to go deeper than symptom management. Together, we’ll explore the hidden patterns, emotional blocks, & past experiences that still shape your present. Our work will be thoughtful & challenging in the best way — the kind of therapy that helps you grow in ways you didn’t know were possible. My approach blends Psychodynamic Therapy with elements of CBT, DBT, Black feminist theory, empowerment, and sociopolitical thought. This allows us to work at both a deep, exploratory level and a practical, skill-based level, always tailored to you. Therapy can be challenging at times—it asks you to face yourself honestly—but it can also be profoundly enriching and life-changing. I work best with clients who are ready to commit to weekly, twice-weekly, or thrice-weekly sessions, so we can create the momentum & depth needed for real transformation. If you’re ready to begin that journey, send me an email.

Anxiety and depression can make college feel overwhelming—constant worry, overthinking, feeling on edge, sudden waves of panic, or getting stuck in “what if” thoughts and mental loops. For some students, it also shows up as perfectionism, needing things to feel just right, or feeling driven to overanalyze, check, or mentally replay situations. For others, they get stuck and can't make decisions, start tasks, and quickly fall behind. My work with students is practical, goal-focused, and skills-based. Together, we focus on tools you can actually use in daily life—learning how to step out of worry and mental loops, tolerate uncertainty and distress, understand and name emotions, and respond more flexibly when strong, uncomfortable emotions show up. We’ll also look at how your emotions influence your choices, habits, and relationships, and work toward changes that help you move forward. The goal isn’t to eliminate anxiety or other uncomfortable emotions completely, but to help emotions to have less control over your thoughts, decisions, and day-to-day life so you can feel more present and grounded. My focus is on individual therapy for anxiety, social anxiety, panic, OCD, adjustment issues, depression and trauma focused therapy for PTSD.
It takes courage and commitment to begin the therapy process. Here at Mainstay Counseling & Wellness, LLC, we believe that our clients are capable of profound healing and change. It is our job to provide you with a safe and supportive place for reflection and exploration, and to help you identify thought and behavior patterns that create distress and inhibit growth. We consider ourselves to be a collaborative, person-centered and empirically minded group of psychotherapists that utilize several different specializations, strategies and interventions specifically tailored to meet your individual needs. I offer flexible scheduling for those who need it - we can meet weekly, bi-weekly, or 'grab & go' style where you pick up an appointment as needed. I practice 'relational, client-centered' therapy where you are the leader in the work we do together. I value the client-therapist relationship & show up as a whole person therapist - if I cannot provide competent care & support for your therapeutic needs, I will work with you to find you the therapist you deserve. I primarily see individuals experiencing life overwhelm, chronic illness, perinatal or postpartum concerns, identity exploration, & those in (or interested in) the medical, human services, or first responder fields.
I am passionate about working with college students 18 and older that are struggling with painful life experiences that affect their mental and physical health. I provide a safe, accepting environment, using evidence-based modalities for change, and support my clients in the process of healing and becoming the best versions of themselves. My clients are resilient- however, having to be "strong" and in survival mode all the time is exhausting, and it's okay to let your guard down with me. I aim to support my clients in not only surviving, but thriving. My clients achieve a healthier relationship with themselves, others, and the world around them.
