I provide therapy to those looking for support in navigating life stressors or mental illness. I work with my clients to identify and define core values, and explore where there is space in their life to embrace these beliefs more effectively. l utilize elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy to examine thought patterns and how they are impacting emotions and behaviors. I provide a non-judgmental space in which clients can set goals for change or have support in coping with challenges. l believe that therapy is most effective when it is a true partnership between the therapist and the client. I hope to establish an atmosphere of safety and exploration in which clients can process and examine their inner dialogue, as well as feel open to new perspectives and feedback.

I've been working in the field for almost 20 years. I specialize in working with teens/young adults. Some of my focuses include issues around anxiety, depression, ADHD, learning/school difficulties, school stressors in general, LGBTQIA+, relationship/family issues, and life transitions. I want to help my clients feel empowered to live with more peace, health and confidence. I use various modalities, depending on what the client needs, to help individuals explore feelings, identify helpful coping skills and ultimately reach their goals. Often, I see clients who need help understanding patterns of behavior that have caused distress, and it is through self-awareness and support that positive change can start to occur. I am focused on developing a trusted therapeutic relationship based on mutual respect. I am down to earth and easy to talk to. I strive to create the space for clients to explore their strengths and challenges in a supportive, nonjudgemental way. It is important to have an unbiased person support you through life's ups and downs.

I specialize in working with anxiety disorders, self-esteem, and personality disorders; I also have the unique niche of working researchers/academics as well as those who have lived abroad. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as a researcher at Harvard Medical School, University of Pennsylvania, and as a Fulbright scholar in Budapest, Hungary, studying psychotherapeutic interventions for anxiety disorders and personality disorders. Life can be tough, and our minds often create barriers that make it hard to move forward. Through therapy, my aim is to help you work through the complexities of being human - helping you better understand yourself and find ways to cope with the unique challenges of living in today’s world. I specialize in anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, depression, and self-esteem, including couples therapy. Every person is the expert in their own lives and and experiences and I see my role as supporting people to direct themselves in the path they best see fit. Sometimes things like anxiety, depression, body image issues, and interpersonal conflicts can make it difficult to really stay connected to who you are and achieve what you want to achieve. I show up for my clients with curiosity, authenticity, compassion, and humor in order to help them feel empowered to make the shifts in their thinking or behavior that they want. You smile and say “I’m fine” but it's not true. You don’t necessarily know what’s wrong so sometimes you even convince yourself you're OK. You feel overwhelmed trying to balance the demands of being a student, living on your own, preparing for your future, maintaining relationships with family/friends, gaining financial independence, etc. It feels like everybody around you has it all under control. You question whether you're depressed or anxious. Maybe you've learned to cope by scrolling on your phone and self-medicating. You want to learn healthier coping skills. You want to talk to someone who only has YOU in mind. You deserve to find a therapist who will listen, care, support and advocate for you. I have experience working with college-aged students who present with a variety of concerns including: ADHD, anxiety and depression, domestic violence, eating disorders, grief/loss, life transitions, relational conflict, self-esteem issues, stress management, substance use, and trauma. Check out my website to learn more about me! I offer an initial 45-minute consultation free of charge to all potential clients so you can make sure I am a good fit for you. You've faced so many challenges, and trauma has a knack for taking over everything. Maybe you try to keep busy to escape from it all, but most of the time, it's all-consuming. Your work or studies suffer, because you can’t concentrate. Your relationships are affected as well. It can be hard for others who haven't experienced similar struggles to truly understand you and what’s happening for you. Even for you, finding the right words to articulate it all can be tough. This makes connecting with others a bit more challenging. But trauma doesn't have to be your whole story. It doesn't have to consume your days, thoughts, relationships, and work. Even the trauma that stems from marginalization and oppression doesn't have to define you. Therapy can be where you separate out what has happened to you, from who you are and want to be. It can provide a space to discover peace, clarity, and even moments of joy amidst life's challenges. My passion lies in supporting survivors of interpersonal trauma, particularly those who have experienced child abuse, as well as individuals who face the daily impact of systemic oppression, including BIPOC, LGBTQAI+ individuals, and those who and those who navigate the complex intersections of marginalization. As a biracial Asian and White woman, I daily I navigate the hurtful impacts of racism and sexism in our world. Being multiracial allows me to see the world from different angles, and I appreciate both the difficulties and advantages it brings. I am 3rd-generation Chinese. I carry within me a deeply personal understanding of the burdens of generational trauma and the stress of acculturation within my family. However, I am aware that my experiences are limited to my own point of view and I don't assume to fully grasp how similar experiences have affected others. I approach everyone I meet, regardless of our similarities, with humility.

Clinical Social Work/Therapist
Boston, MA

I am licensed in MA, NH, and VT. As a trauma therapist, I embrace an unconventional therapeutic style, incorporating humor and a holistic approach into my clinical practice. My practice is inclusive and welcoming to individuals from all identities and backgrounds. Many of my clients are neurodivergent or members of the LGBTQIA+ community who are experiencing issues related to complex PTSD and/or substance use and addiction. Drawing upon a deep understanding of trauma dynamics, harm reduction, and 12-step models, I stand by my clients as they venture into a path of healing and self-exploration. I offer a compassionate and comprehensive approach to healing. Viewing addiction and substance use as trauma-related disorders, I incorporate an eclectic combination of interventions to guide folks in rebuilding their sense of safety and resiliency. If appropriate, I can provide EMDR therapy. EMDR is a highly effective treatment for unresolved trauma. As a holistic clinician, my approach to healing considers the entirety of an individual. I believe our problems are not isolated events but interconnected components of our lives, impacting various facets of ourselves. Together, we can address issues at their roots, across the many layers of our being, to foster lasting and transformative change.
