Therapists for college students near 02138
Hi, I’m Marlena. I’m a multicultural, bilingual (Spanish-speaking) therapist who helps women navigating life transitions, relationships, and the pressure to hold it all together. You’re the one everyone relies on, but deep down, you’re craving space to slow down, breathe, and feel like yourself again. I bring warmth, humor, and authenticity to every session. This is your space to exhale, be seen, and start feeling more at ease.
Are you looking for support navigating the transitions related to college life? I have over 10 years of experience working with young adults to navigate the ups and downs that come from life transitions and mental health challenges. I work with young people to build confidence and skills to be the best version of themselves. I believe in building strong relationships and being authentic in therapy. Life is hard, but it doesn't have to feel impossible!
At Soul Sprout Mindful Care, we are dedicated to helping you and your family achieve Mental Health. We believe that Mental Health is just as important as physical health, and we treat it as such. We are committed to providing therapeutic services including individual outpatient therapy, family outpatient therapy, and couples outpatient therapy. A therapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan, with interventions tailored specifically to your needs. We believe that you should be heard, and we take supporting you very seriously. In the African American community, we are haunted by intergenerational trauma that shapes how we view and operate within the world. By increasing the frequency with which people of color pursue therapy, we work to break the cycle of trauma and aid you in beginning a new family tradition of mental health. We are honored to work to be a part of this change! Our number one priority is the health and safety of our clients. We're working to provide telehealth services via zoom during this COVID crisis.
Our team works with people located in both Connecticut and Massachusetts, and specializes in work with college students and young adults. If you are struggling with overwhelm during the college experience, or managing emotional challenges such as anxiety or depression, our practice can help. We also help support students struggling with transitions, life decisions, social stress and the other challenges of the college years. We would be honored to meet you and support you through this time!
Navigating the transition to adulthood can cause college students and young adults to become overwhelmed, lost, and exhausted. It can seem like everyone else is flourishing in their relationships, career, and personal life, while you’re just trying to survive the day. Your life can be more than just “getting by”. Therapy can help you sift through the challenges in your life and help you define what matters most to you. I can support you in your journey to building a more manageable and meaningful life where you can reconnect with community and joy. I’m a warm, empathic person who combines talk therapy approaches, skill building, and executive functioning coaching to help my clients build a life that truly works for them. I enjoy working with young adults who are looking for support with life transitions, balancing responsibilities, ADHD, Autism, anxiety, and depression. In whatever areas you are struggling—life transitions, relationships, school, work and/or family—I'll meet you right where you are and offer you the tailored support you need to reach your goals. A life filled with connection and ease is possible. Reach out today for a 15-minute consultation call. I look forward to hearing from you.
For many of us, perhaps adolescents and young adults in particular, the process of figuring "it" out is an elusive to-do swashing in the waves of life's stressors. I have worked with adolescents and young adults for over a decade; sharing in their challenges, connecting in laughter and in story. My hope is to help you, your child, or your loved one, navigate life’s waves with dignity. Feel free to contact me for a chat, we can go from there.
My practice focuses on helping clients feel safe, heard and understood in order to process current experiences. Through identification of thoughts and feelings we can then look at new ways of coping and developing skills to manage the human experience. The foundation of my work is evidence based cognitive behavioral therapy. All sessions are conducted via a HIPPA secure telehealth platform.
I am currently accepting self-pay clients! During therapy sessions, I hold space for people facing all types of life experiences that encompass our collective human experience. Some key areas that I support individuals with are finding relief from anxiety through the cultivation of self-regulation and nervous system support, navigating major life transitions, healing from traumatic events, past or present, and exploring ways of living that are in alignment with one's true desires. I strive to help individuals build a relationship with themselves that are rooted in compassion and self-acceptance. As our imagination becomes activated and absorbed in the freedom of art and play, our linear or rational thinking processes of labeling and making judgments are temporarily suspended. This temporary suspension allows us to access our intuition (heart, center, wisdom, spirit, true self) and deepen awareness of our thoughts, feelings and experiences in life.
College (and life in general) can be a lot. Whether you're adjusting to a big transition, feeling disconnected from yourself and those around you, or trying to make sense of things that have happened in your life, you don't have to figure it out alone. I’m a therapist who works with adolescents, young adults, and caregivers, with a special focus on supporting LGBTQ+ folks. I'm part of the LGBTQ community too. I work from a trauma-informed and anti-oppression lens, which means I pay attention to the full context of your life and how the world around you has shaped your experiences. My style is warm, collaborative, and down to earth. I bring humor when it's helpful, and I don't expect you to show up any particular way. You can be messy, unsure, overwhelmed. I’ll meet you there without judgment. Everyone deserves to feel safe and heard. Therapy with me is a place to slow down, get curious, and start making sense of what’s been hard while finding your way back to yourself. I take insurance and offer a free 15-minute call to see if we're a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you!
When you say, you’re F.I.N.E…. Family and friends have told you so much about things that are happening in life. It feels as if you are still on this continuous cycle of fights and arguments. Nobody understands or even cares to listen, so you just say, “I’m fine.” Of course, you’re feeling Frantic, Insecure, Negative, and Emotional. We are here to assist. We have a wide selection of therapists to address your challenges. Our practice helps people with depression, anxiety, trauma, neurodivergence, LGBTQIA+ issues, relationships, marriage, post-partum or family issues, and an array of other concerns. From day 1, we ensure you get exactly what you need from the therapeutic process. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all model. Treatment should reflect the uniqueness of the individual. At BME Therapy Associates, our clinicians are highly trained to understand your needs during the session. Depending on the clinician, you will experience therapeutic skills building, developing mental health education, personal insights, and a little humor. Whether you are doing trauma work using EMDR or relational work through the Gottman method, you will experience a sense of pride and comfort that you are with a professional. 2307223415We are not looking for perfection but progress. How do we measure progress? The proof of the pudding is in the eating. In other words, a better tomorrow results in the actions that you take today. In this, you have nothing to fear. We will walk with you throughout this journey. We will continue to guide and support you. You are never alone, and no one is an island. The new you is right around the corner. Hi, thanks so much for taking an interest in my practice. It takes great courage and awareness to come to the decision to reach out for support. I see clients in my office in Cambridge, MA, near Davis Square, and in Melrose, MA, as well as by teletherapy/videochat. I specialize in helping people to free themselves from the 'silent conversation' that we have with ourselves throughout the day. By understanding how this conversation influences our thoughts, feelings, and actions, it is possible to adapt it to feel more empowered in life. It is my hope that your therapy experience will feel comforting, meaningful, real, and effective in getting to the heart of your core concerns. I work from an integrative framework in a warm and interactive environment, drawing from holistic, cognitive, and psychodynamic influences to help people to reclaim a sense of choice and authorship in their lives. My background includes more than 25 years in clinical healthcare, school, and community settings working therapeutically with individuals, couples, and groups on a wide-range of issues causing acute and chronic distress. Starting treatment with a new mental health provider can be daunting: it involves opening up with the hope that you'll learn and grow from the experience. I have tremendous respect and admiration for my patients, as they work through challenging emotions, histories, and conflicts. At times, certain thought patterns, self-perceptions, traumatic experiences, or communication struggles can keep people from thriving and building the kind of career, relationship, or personal well-being they crave. It takes courage to work on these issues, and it is a real privilege to get to help people on their journey. I am a Harvard-trained, board-certified psychiatrist providing psychotherapy and medication management to adults in Massachusetts through telehealth. Growing up in an immigrant family and having worked in multiple clinics internationally, I highly value providing culturally competent care. It is very important to me that my patients feel seen and heard. I use a collaborative, holistic approach to care, in which I work alongside clients to define and set goals. I am transparent about the extent of what is and isn't well-known in psychiatry with the goal of helping people make informed decisions that they feel comfortable implementing. If this approach sounds like a good fit for you, please reach out!

My experience consists of providing psychotherapy and neuropsychological testing in a variety of settings including schools, community mental health centers, outpatient clinics, partial hospitalization programs, and residential treatment facilities.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating a variety of mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism and OCD. Supporting young people and their families has always been at the heart of my work. I am committed to providing compassionate, collaborative, and culturally responsive mental health care. Having grown up and trained in Boston, I am proud to serve the community that is my home. Creating a space where you feel heard, safe, and supported is critical to my practice. I’m happy you’ve taken that first step and found your way here. I understand it’s not easy to seek out support. Therapy is unique to each person, but some themes I have noticed people are seeking out are an understanding of their emotions, an improved ability to cope and function and feeling more empowered about their individual situations. I also specialize in and offer years of expertise supporting individuals around issues related to parenting, identity development, LBGTQIA+ identities and life transitions. The space I provide is welcoming, gentle and warm. My approach is person-centered and eclectic at its core. I am thoughtful and attentive in finding ways to make therapy accessible and meaningful. I primarily use talk therapy and am skilled at incorporating creativity, coping skills and mindfulness into my work to make therapy individualized to your needs. My hope for you is that you realize your own strength and ability to be the driving force in determining what success means to you in therapy. I believe in your ability to be your own expert and to find your own strength and awareness to promote your personal growth and healing. I’m here to support you and meet you where you are on life’s journey.
