Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
Is the pain of your past making it difficult to live in the present? Have you lost a sense of safety in your life? Do you struggle with getting hijacked by feelings of shame, anxiety, anger, or sadness? Are your relationships suffering and you wonder how you will ever learn to trust again? Are you a parent and feel "stuck" in how to connect with your child and set kind and firm limits that will nurture healthy development? Are you paralyzed by fears of being abandoned or repeating the patterns of harm in current relationships that you experienced as a child? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then you are not alone. You want to feel empowered to know that while you cannot change the past, you can change your relationship with the past. You want to understand the purpose of your emotions, understand your needs, and make choices that nurture your emotions rather that having them control you. You want to raise confident, capable, courageous, and compassionate children. When you have the courage to be authentically yourself with someone else you can begin to grow and transform. As a former CAPS psychologist, I have extensive experience working with graduate and undergraduate students at several university counseling centers. My specialty areas include trauma/PTSD, family and relationship issues, self-esteem, social identity concerns, and identity exploration. I also treat anxiety and depression. I'm a feminist therapist, working from an integrative approach, and I offer both short term and longer term therapy options. For students struggling with trauma histories, I also provide EMDR and IFS informed therapy. I have a direct and transparent communication style and enjoy helping clients who are looking to better understand themselves, their identities, and their relationships. I am PSYPACT credentialed, so I can continue to see you virtually when you are traveling out of state (if you are in one of the 42 PSYPACT states). *Current openings for in person and online sessions*
